Who we are

The Digital Repair Café in Milton Keynes is a private, not-for-profit project run by Axel Segebrecht for the benefit of its audience: young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, those with mental-health conditions, and people from the neurodiverse community. You can reach us through the contact form on this website.

We keep data collection to a minimum and handle your personal data openly. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have.

What data we collect and why

Contact and sign-up forms

Our contact form collects your name, email address, the reason for contact and your message. Our digital drop-in form collects your first name, email address and the topics you are interested in. If you tick the marketing option, we also record your consent to email you. We use these details only to reply to you, to run the sessions you sign up for, and, where you have opted in, to send you news about the Digital Repair Café. Form submissions are processed by StaticHost.uk , a UK privacy-first platform, and protected by the Altcha anti-spam widget. We do not use CAPTCHA services that track you, and we do not share your details with any unrelated third party.

Email updates

If you opt in to email updates, we keep your name and email address so we can send you news and event information about the Digital Repair Café. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.

Website analytics

We use StaticHost.uk privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics. It does not set cookies, collect personal data, or track individual visitors, and it is compliant with GDPR and PECR. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous, and helps us understand general trends such as page views and referral sources without identifying anyone.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and operational purposes. These may include IP addresses, browser type and pages visited. They are retained only for as long as needed for security monitoring.

How we protect your data

All connections to this website are encrypted using HTTPS. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we work only with providers that respect your privacy.

Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. If you opt in to email updates, we keep your details until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data where there is no compelling reason to keep it
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Objection: object to our processing of your data
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format

To exercise any of these rights, use the contact form . If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
